Dave Wassenaar, Dean of Admissions and Records at Cypress Community College, stepped won as the chairman of the executive board of the Cypress Chamber of Commerce last night at the Chamber’s annual installation and awards banquet.

This year, the banquet was held in the Vessels Room at Los Alamitos Race Course.

More than 160 people attended, including Dr. Michael Kasler, President of Cypress Community College; Leroy Mills, Mayor of the City of Cypress; Jackie Gomez-Whiteley, Chief of Police of the City of Cypress; and the Honorable Jim Silva, Assemblyman for California’s 67th District.

Shown in the featured photo are Tim Keenan (on the left), handing Dave Wassenaar (on the right) a gavel commemorating his year leading the executive board.

Keenan, a principal of Creative Media Recording in Cypress, is himself a past chairman of the executive board and a former mayor of the City of Cypress.

George O’Hara, Colony West Financial Insurance Services, will be the new chairman. He was unable to attend the installation banquet. Wassenaar read a brief statement from O’Hara that praised the efforts of volunteers and contrasted Cypress today with Cypress forty years ago.
