Free tour of Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base

The Regional Military Affairs Committee (RMAC) of the Los Alamitos Area Chamber of Commerce will conduct its next free quarterly tour of the Joint Force Training Base (JFTB) and Los Alamitos Army Airfield in Los Alamitos on Thursday, August 18.

You must RVSP beforehand with the Los Alamitos Chamber of Commerce by calling 562-598-6659. Reservations are required and there is limited participation space available.

Tour members will meet at the JFTB Veterans Center, Building #244, at 1 p.m. The tour will start after a roll call and briefing and will last about two hours.

Be prepared to show government-issued photo ID at the entrance to the base.

All visitors are invited to to Fiddlers Green for lunch before the tour. Fiddlers Green is located at Bldg #19, 4745 Yorktown. Lunch starts at 11 a.m.Fiddlers Green is open to the public six days a week.

This tour is an opportunity for area residents and businesses to appreciate an overview of the basic operations at the JFTB. There will be a bus tour of this “1400-acre military oasis.” Participants will view many the facilities and activities at the only remaining active military airfield in the greater LA/Orange County areas.

The tour will end with a visit to the Engagement Skills Trainer using real weapons on a indoor laser range. Participants electing to operate a military weapon on this simulated firing range will have to sign a release. Please dress comfortably for using the range.

The address of the Base is 11200 Lexington Drive in Los Alamitos (corner of Katella Avenue and Lexington Drive, page 797, OC Thomas Guide).

The Military Police at the front gate on Lexington can provide directions to Fiddlers Green and the Veterans Center.
