Orange County Breeze editor Shelley Henderson was the featured speaker at the regular meeting of the Los Alamitos – Seal Beach Rotary Club on Wednesday, October 12.
This meeting was the second for LA-SB Rotary at a new location, at a new time, and on a new day of the week: Preveza Mediterranean Kouzina at 10931 Los Alamitos Boulevard (just north of Katella Avenue), at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesdays.
The Club had been meeting at noon on Tuesdays at Old Ranch Country Club.
Shelley spoke to the Club about Orange County Breeze and how she traveled from a technical career (bachelor’s in computer science from USC, master’s in computer science and electrical engineering from MIT, last job as technical liaison to Internet2 for USC) to editing an online community newspaper.
Shelley is available to speak at the drop of a hat. If you would like her to speak to your group, send email to editor@oc-breeze.com or call 562-493-1500.

It was an informative presentation with a fascinating career background that was provided to the Los Alamitos/Seal Beach Rotary Club. We have a guest speaker each week to provide us with knowledge or information about various topics. In addition to the fellowship, these speakers often open up new avenues for members to consider in their respective businesses or careers. Rotarians are involved in programs that serve the community and the world at large through a variety of fundraising events and the Rotary International Foundation. Eradication of polio from the face of the earth has been a major goal that is nearly been achieved. Fresh water in many villages and countries is another effort. Locally, the Los Alamitos/Seal Beach Club has traditionally contributed an average of $10,000 to non-profits within the community.
