Open to everyone, Fiddler’s Green is an informal eatery on Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base (JFTB).
You don’t need a military affiliation of any kind to eat there — just a big appetite.
You can eat either inside, or outside on the small patio under umbrellas. Barbecues offer a chance to grill your own burgers on occasion.
The view from the patio takes in a Cobra attack-helicopter display, the east end of the main runway and airfield support buildings, including hangars and control tower.
If you’re the type to plan ahead, check out the Fiddler’s Green November 2011 lunch menu (pdf).
Fiddler’s Green is at 4745 Yorktown Avenue, Building 19, on the JFTB. For more information, call 562-795-2168 or email jftb.pubfg@la.twcbc.com.
A photo ID is required to enter the base. Ask the guard at the front gate how to reach Building 19, as active construction projects have prompted road closures.
