This is coverage of the first RCSD (Rossmoor Community Services District) Shops at Rossmoor ad hoc committee meeting, held January 10, 2012 at Rush Park auditorium in Rossmoor.

The committee was called for at the December RCSD meeting when numerous public comments were brought forward regarding the expansion of the Shops at Rossmoor center and its related traffic issues. The RCSD pointed out that their limited scope of powers — parkways, medians, street lighting, Rossmoor wall, and parks — does not give them any authority over issues related to the Shops. (That falls to Seal Beach and the OC Board of Supervisors).

However, the RCSD called for an ad hoc meeting to provide information to the public. Invited to be on the committee were representatives of the Rossmoor Homeowners Association and some community members at large.

Representing the RCSD were Board members Ron Casey and Mike Maynard. Representing the RHA was Ralph Vartebedian. Members at large were Brenda Gorman and Dawn Coleman-Hyman.

Representing Seal Beach City were Mark Persico and Sean Crumby and representing the Shops at Rossmoor was marketing director Kristine Smith and representing the center’s new owners was David Josker of CBRE, the center’s new property managers.

Note: Longtime Rossmoor Center owner Century National officially sold the Shops at Rossmoor to international investment firm AEW in a deal that closed on December 20, 2012.

Approximately eight community members spoke at public comment.
