The Orange County Register reported that Oxford Academy placed third in Division II of the 2012 Orange County Academic Decathlon (OCAD).
Top teams were named at the OCAD Awards Ceremony held at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa on Feb. 9.
Valencia High School in the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District beat out last year’s winner, Westminster High School.
The win for Valencia brought with it a $3,000 check and the opportunity to compete at the state level in Sacramento on March 15 through 18. State winners will go on to compete nationally in New Mexico on April 25-28.
Oxford Academy, recognized as a California Distinguished School, is a public college prepatory school covering grades seven through twelve. Students are drawn from the entire attendance area of Anaheim Union High School District. It is located at 5172 Orange Ave., at the intersection with Grindlay St. and cattycorner from the Cypress Civic Center.
