According to USA Water Polo, the United States women’s water polo team took first place at the Holiday Cup water polo tournament played over the weekend at the USA Water Polo National Aquatic Center at Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base.
Opposing team Canada led by one point at the end of the first period and maintained the one-point lead through the second period. Team Canada flagged during the third period, scoring only one last point. With remarkable consistency, Team USA picked up another three points against its weakening rival and finished off with a strong two unanswered points in the final period.
The final score was USA 11, Canada 8.
