The following information was released by California Employment Support of the Guard and Reserve. The workshop will be held on Friday, Feb. 24, MWR Billeting, 4522 Saratoga Ave., Building 19. Registration begins at 8 a.m. The workshop itself runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The public is invited to attend the “I Can Help” — Train the Trainer Workshop that will enable participants to immediately enhance their program delivery and assist our Citizen Warriors and Veterans with training on the new Hero2Hired (H2H) program, resumé writing, interview skills and ideas on how to improve one’s professional skill.

This workshop will be a chance to network with other Yellow Ribbon, Family-readiness and community partners from each of the Reserve Components and outside agencies. Our goal is to provide each leader/attendee with the tools to provide immediate assistance to our warriors needing help in the employment arena.

The Hero2Hire assists unemployed Reserve Component (RC) Service Members with job placement. The goal of the program is to reduce the number of RC members who are unemployed by helping them find jobs. You are the key connective element between these employment enrichment opportunities and the Service Member. The prime opportunity to provide direct access to the Service member is the Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program to RC Combat Veterans who require employment assistance. We encourage attendees to bring their laptop for hands-on training with the H2H website.

The resumé writing class will include the do’s and don’ts as well provide excellent sample resumés and resumé style. This class has been well received at Yellow Ribbon events for all the Reserve Components. Interview skills are an area that will be highly showcased becase this is where you show the potential employer “this is what I bring to your company, and that’s why I stand above the rest of the applicants.” This also will be a very helpful tool for you to share with your unemployed and underemployed service member.

By the end of the workshop, you will leave with the “I Can Help” tools and resources. Each one of you is encourage to attend this workshop so the next time one of our Citizen Warriors walks up and says, “I am unemployed. Where do I start?” You can say, “I can help!” rather than “I don’t know.”

Please RSVP to patrickk@cableone.net or 562-572-3466 to allow accommodation of all guests.
