LAHS Sound Trax choir claims national title

Los Alamitos High School Sound FX Advanced Mixed Choir

The Nation’s top twenty-two show choir’s competed for the title of National Champion in Chicago’s famed Arie Crown Theater this past weekend. Representing thirteen states from across America.

“These outstanding show choir national finalists performed their hearts out.” said Joel Biggs president of FAME Events, the competitions producer. “We congratulate our 2012 National Champions in the women’s division, Los Alamitos High School ’Sound Trax‘ and a repeat National Champion in the mixed division Wheaton Warrenville High School ’The Classics.‘”

As Show Choir’s crowning event. the National Finals was the culmination of the Show Choir National Championship Series (SCNCS) which took place in five cities across the nation including Hollywood, Branson, Orlando, New York City and Chicago. The top three mixed show choirs and the top two women’s show choirs each qualified for the Show Choir National Finals in Chicago.

The students were not charged for their participation in the competition. The National Presenting Sponsor, FAME Events along with Wenger Corporation, Satin Stitches, Dance Sophisticates, Gillette College, Gail McInnis Productions and Group Friendly are paying for the event.

“If they work this hard to make it this far they have earned it” said Biggs.

In addition to being entertained by the top show choirs in America, the audience was be charmed by Master of Ceremonies and multi-talented young performing star Brydon Brett from Branson Missouri.

The evening concluded with a spectacular awards ceremony featuring performances by Viterbo University, Brydon Brett and an incredible light and laser show. The awards ceremony was highlighted by the presentation of the “Show Choir Cup” to the 2012 National Champions.

Thursday evening, April 19, Show Choir professionals were honored in the second annual “Aspire Awards” Banquet. Among the award recipients were Lifetime award winner Verda Savage, who has been a pioneer in the industry and whose influence is reflected in many of the top show choir programs in the country.
