Tankfarm, John Anderson, Mike Anderson

Los Alamitos High School graduates John and Mike Anderson can boast about an article and photo spread on pages 63 to 65 of the May 2012 issue of Live Orange County.

The brothers also got a shout out at this week’s Los Alamitos City Council meeting about the article.

The article praises their success with Tankfarm Clothing.

The two of them launched the clothing line as a sideline to their band. When they made more money from selling T-shirts than playing gigs, they dropped the band and ran with the shirts.

Originally, the company had no retail outlet of its own. But when a high-visibility location right on Los Alamitos Blvd. just north of Katella Ave. came available, the brothers snatched it up, renovated the interior to match the design aesthetic of Tankfarm, and opened with a parking lot party that included live music and lots of food.
