At its regular meeting on Monday, June 4, the Los Alamitos City Council interviewed Richard Murphy to fill a vacancy on the City’s Traffic Commission.
The vacancy arose because of the unexpected death earlier this year of Shawn Utley, a long-time member of the Traffic Commission.
Mr. Murphy was invited to make an opening statement.
Each Council member then asked him a single question.
Mr. Murphy was then invited to make a closing statement.
A count of the subsequent secret and written ballots showed unanimous approval of recommending Mr. Murphy for the vacancy. The unanimous recommendation was quickly turned into a unanimous vote in favor of a resolution appointing Mr. Murphy to the Traffic Commission.
