Prospective camp counselors can train with Los Alamitos

The following information was released by the City of Los Alamitos. Call the City of Los Alamitos for fee schedule.

The City of Los Alamitos Recreation & Community Services Department is excited to offer Counselor in Training Program (C.I.T.) for teens 13-16 years old. CIT is a new program available this summer in conjunction with Los Alamitos Summer Day Camp. CITs will work alongside the Los Alamitos Summer Day Camp staff to prep for camp activities, organize games and crafts, and assist on excursions. They will receive valuable on-the-job training as they learn what it’s like to be a day camp counselor. Each 2-week session will also feature workshops aimed to develop and strengthen professional skills for teens.

  1. June 18-22 & June 25-29 Get Motivated! & Goal Setting
  2. July 2-6 & July 9-13 — Time Management/Organization & Team Building/Conflict Resolution
  3. July 16-20 & July 23-27 — Work Ethic & Leadership Development
  4. July 30-Aug. 3 & Aug. 6-10 — Job Skills: Public Speaking & Computer Tech Skills
  5. Aug. 13-17 & Aug. 20-24 — Resume Building & Interviews

Registration is going on now!

Limited spots are available.

Fees include $2 processing fee, daily snacks, beverages, trips to the beach and pool, and excursions to different area attractions on Thursdays.

Participants will have to bring a sack lunch every day.

Each participant will also be required to purchase one camp T-shirt for $15 and submit a completed participant questionnaire at the time of registration.

Regular program hours are 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Extended program hours offered from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. for an additional fee. No program on July 4.
