The following information was released by the Boys & Girls Club of Cypress.
University of Phoenix employees volunteered at the Boys & Girls Club of Cypress to update the Teen Room, Games Room and Computer Lab.
Twenty-five high-energy volunteers spent six hours painting, building furniture, beautifying the building, and helping get the Club ready to open its doors for the highly-anticipated summer program.
“Our teen members really appreciate their updated Teen Room,” said Sue Osbon, Area Director. “It’s important for them to have a place within the Club that is specifically designed to meet their needs.”
Club member Ryan H. agrees. “Now more of us can use the room and play different things all at the same time. It’s a great place to hang out.”
“I’m very grateful to my fellow Board member, Adriana Roth, for helping to connect our Club to University of Phoenix,” said Board President David Frias. “This generous donation of equipment and expertise helps us to keep our costs low so we can provide high-quality, free and low-cost services to the community.”
University of Phoenix and Boys & Girls Clubs of America are working together to develop programs that help youth stay in school and graduate with a plan for the future.
“University of Phoenix and the Boys & Girls Club both strive to remove barriers to success for all young people,” said Adriana Roth, Community Relations Specialist for University of Phoenix. “Working together we are helping the students who need us most, to succeed in school and in life.”
