July 2012 Cypress School Board highlights

The following information was released by Cypress School District.

Appointment of new board member

Vice President Nakamura gave the oath of office to new Board Member Candice Kern, who was provisionally appointed to complete the term of retired Board member Donna Erickson.

Initial contract proposal from CSEA

The Board received the initial contract proposal from California School Employees Association (CSEA), Chapter #325, and a public hearing on the proposal was held.

Renewal of license agreement with Wisdom Mission School

The Board approved the renewal of a License to Use Agreement with Wisdom Mission School in the amount of $6,855 per month for the period September 2012 through June 2013, for the use of facilities at Cawthon School, to include the office, multipurpose room, and two classrooms.

Exclusive negotiating agreement

The Board of Trustees approved an Exclusive Negotiating Agreement with the City of Buena Park for the Dickerson School property, which will run for the next six months.

Master agreement for Archipelago Learning

The Board approved the renewal of the Archipelago Learning (Study Island and Education City) Master Agreement for annual costs for online software programs for our six schools.

Resolution No. 123-01, assignment of teachers for students with autism

Board members adopted Resolution 123-01 to approve the assignment of teachers outside their authorized credential area to provide instruction to students with autism.

Resolution No. 123-02, grant funding

The Board of Trustees adopted Resolution 123-02 authorizing the District to apply for and secure grant funding from the South Coast Air Quality Management District for the replacement of four pre-1994 model year school buses, committing $15,000 per bus in advance for all buses awarded, for a total amount not to exceed $60,000.
