The following information was released by the City of Cypress.
On Thursday, August 2, 2012, Mr. Leroy Mills, Cypress Council Member, was joined by Ms. Jackie Filbeck, Field Representative from Assemblyman Chris Norby’s office, and other City officials for a ribbon cutting ceremony to welcome Teriyaki Grill Monkey Wave to the City of Cypress located at 5721 Lincoln Avenue, Unit F. The ribbon cutting ceremony was a part of the City’s Sole Proprietorship – Identify / Realize / Inspire / & Transform (SPIRIT) Program, which is a business outreach program to support small businesses and sole proprietorships in the City of Cypress.
The owner of Teriyaki Grill Monkey Wave is Mr. Yorifumi Shingu, who also serves as the chef. Prior to opening his own restaurant, Mr. Shingu served as an associate chef at Izakaya Hondaya restaurant in Los Angeles. His specialty is teppanyaki, which is a style of Japanese cuisine that uses an iron griddle to prepare food.
Teriyaki Grill Monkey Wave offers authentic Japanese homemade style cooking, using the finest ingredients, and using No MSG, purified salt, or purified sugar. At the restaurant, visitors can select from a wide selection of teriyaki bowls and plates, such as the teriyaki chicken bowl, teriyaki beef bowl, salmon flake bowl, and tofu bowl.
Bowl selections are served with steam veggies.
Combination plates features items served with salad, steamed veggies and macaroni salad, which includes the teriyaki chicken plate, teriyaki beef plate, chick & beef combo plate, chicken katsu plate, karaage with special sauce plate, salmon plate, tofu plate, and the Monkey Wave Special which is the featured mixed item of the day.
Curry lovers will find a variety of selections at the Teriyaki Grill Monkey Wave as well. Curry selections include the chicken curry bowl, beef curry bowl, chicken curry plate, beef curry plate, and the chicken katsu curry plate.
Also being served at the restaurant are favorite American culinary delights including hamburger, cheese burger, and double cheese burger. In addition, teriyaki cheese burger, teriyaki cheese avocado burger, teriyaki chicken sandwich, teriyaki beef sandwich, chicken katsu sandwich, and a selection of salads such as the Chinese chicken salad and tofu salad are also available.
Mr. Shingu named the restaurant after his favorite sport – surfing, and the year in which he was born, which was the year of the monkey. He’s happily married to Mrs. Konomi Shingu for over 25 years with two children.
