The following information was originally published in Casa Youth Shelter’s Summer 2012 newsleter.

April was Board member Kenny Brandberry’s month-of-choice for his annual “Pizza Mondays” fundraiser. There were five Mondays in April this year, and on each of those Mondays, Valentino’s Pizza of Los Alamitos sold any extra-large two-topping pizza for just $10.

And every penny of every sale went into Kenny’s outstretched hands and then to Casa. By the end of the fifth Monday, Kenny and Valentino’s Pizza raised $10,220 in sales and donations, an increase this year of more than 340 pizzas!

We are grateful to Kenny for his dedication to Casa’s kids. He was on his feet nearly 15 hours per day at the the pizzaria every Monday in April, and delivered pizzas in his gold Chrysler PT Cruiser — no small feat when you consider the 227-pizza order from Los Alamitos Medical Center for Staff Appreciation Day at the hospital! Thank you, Kenny!

We are also more than grateful to the generous owners of Valentino’s Pizza, Lee Alanouf and Alex Varonos, makers of the most delicious home-style pizza you’ve every tasted! Not only did they donate 100% of all pizz sales to Casa Youth Shelter, but they donated their time and energy to making hundreds of pizzas for the fundraiser. They did it with a smile, each and every order. Casa’s kids thank you, gentlemen!

Editor’s note: Valentino’s Pizzaria is located at 10511 Los Alamitos Blvd., catty-corner across the intersection with Cerritos Ave. from Los Alamitos High School. The shop’s phone number is 562-217-4872.

Casa Youth Shelter is located at 10911 Reagan St., just north of Katella Ave. The Shelter’s toll-free number is 800-914-2272.
