The following information was released by the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts.

Groove with some of Doo-Wop’s biggest names at Bowzer’s Ultimate Doo-Wop Party Volume III, which comes to the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, August 31, 8:00 PM. Tickets cost $75-$40 and are available at the CCPA Ticket Office, at www.cerritoscenter.com, or by calling 562-467-8818.

Get ready for a fun night as the genre’s brightest acts gather for Bowzer’s Ultimate Doo-Wop Party Volume III.

The lineup features Vocal Group Hall of Fame inductee Sonny Turner, who is most celebrated for the hits I Love You 1000 Times and With This Ring. Billboard praised Turner for his “smooth, expressive vocal treatment” on the tender oldie I’ll Never Smile Again.

Fellow Vocal Group Hall of Fame band The Fleetwoods is also scheduled to perform. The band ruled music charts with the singles Come Softly to Me and Mr. Blue.

Danny & The Juniors Featuring Joe Terry will deliver timeless hits, which have included Rock and Roll Is Here to Stay and the dance classics Twistin’ USA and Pony Express. The band’s At the Hop swept five continents and soared to No. One on the U.S. Pop, Country, and R&B charts and earned a solid spot on Billboard’s “Hot 100″ list. The ensemble won a Philadelphia Music Alliance Achievement Award in 1992 and was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2003.

The lineup also showcases Lenny Welch, who sold more than 1 million copies of Since I Fell for You, which has been featured in several movies and television shows. Welch’s other hits include You Don’t Know Me, Ebb Tide, Breaking Up Is Hard to Do, and Two Different Worlds.

Bowzer & The Stingrays rounds out the party with special guest and Grammy nominee Johnny Contardo. Jon “Bowzer” Bauman, the former comedic vocalist of the Doo-Wop band Sha Na Na, was a piano prodigy who attended the Juilliard School at age 12. At New York’s prestigious Columbia College, Bauman and his classmates created the group Sha Na Na.

With Bauman as the “Bowzer” character, Sha Na Na also became a No. One syndicated show aired in 32 countries. Formerly the lead singer of Sha Na Na, Contardo achieved Platinum status for the Grease soundtrack, which featured the wildly popular Those Magic Changes, and a Gold album for the Golden Age of Rock n Roll.

Tickets are available at the CCPA Ticket Office, on www.cerritoscenter.com, or by calling 562-467-8818.
