The following information was released by Troy Edgar for Assembly 2012.

Los Alamitos Mayor Troy Edgar and leading candidate for the 72nd Assembly District announces that virtually every elected Republican representing Orange County in Sacramento and Washington, DC, has endorsed his candidacy.

“It is an honor to have earned the support of Republicans who carry the mantle of the Republican Party, whether in Sacramento or Washington, D.C.,” said Edgar. “While other campaigns hire or pay for their endorsements, it is a sign that my Six-Point contract with the voters of the 72nd Assembly District and my experience at the local level is philosophically consistent within the leadership of the party,” Edgar added.

California Board of Equalization Member Michelle Steel, Congressman Dana Rohrabacher, Congressman Ed Royce, Congressman Ken Calvert, and Congressman Gary Miller have all endorsed Edgar. In addition, State Senator Tom Harman, State Senator Bob Huff, State Senator Mimi Walters and State Senator Mark Wyland have added their support. Finally, Assemblyman Jim Silva, Assemblyman Allan Mansoor, Assemblyman Don Wagner, Assemblywoman Diane Harkey, Assemblyman Curt Hagman, Assemblyman Chris Norby and Assemblyman Jeff Miller have all publically stated they prefer to serve with Edgar in the Assembly.

Mayor Edgar was previously awarded the 2011 Tax Fighter of the Year Award by the Orange County Republican Party. In announcing the award, Orange County Republican Party Chairman Scott Baugh read the award, which said in part:

The Republican Party of Orange County commends Los Alamitos
City Councilman and Orange County Sanitation District Board
Member Troy Edgar for his leadership stopping new fees, balancing
budgets, without raising taxes and fighting for Republican values on
two levels of local government.

Edgar is also endorsed and supported by the Howard Jarvis Taxpayer’s Association, the Orange County Taxpayer’s Association, the Orange County Family PAC, the Orange County Business Council, the California Small Business Association, the California Women’s Leadership Association and the California Republican Assembly.

Troy Edgar is a husband and father of three sons, a homeowner, Navy veteran, owns and operates two businesses, and is serving his second term as Mayor of Los Alamitos. Edgar is also a regionally recognized leader as evidenced by his election as the Chairman of the Orange County Sanitation District. Troy and his wife Betty – a school teacher – live in Los Alamitos.
