The following information was released by the Orange County Registrar of Voters.
Pursuant to California Elections Code section 15628 the Orange County Registrar of Voters will be conducting a recount of the ballots cast in the 2012 Primary Election Proposition 29 contest.
The election was conducted on June 5, 2012.
The recount of ballots will begin at the Registrar of Voters office, 1300 South Grand Avenue, Building C, Santa Ana, on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 beginning at 9 a.m.
The original timely request was filed with the Secretary of State’s office following the certification of the votes cast in the statewide contest.
Editor’s note: Proposition 29 would have increased the tax on a pack of cigarettes by one dollar with the revenue funding cancer research, smoking reduction programs, and tobacco law enforcement. It was narrowly defeated.
