The group exhibition “The Figure in Contemporary Art” explores the rich and varied figurative painting, drawing, and sculpture produced by contemporary artists from across the United States.
The 21 works by internationally known artists include genre paintings, contemporary narratives, complex figurative compositions, and portraits.
The artists in this exhibition are happily embracing the figurative traditions of the past and using them as a springboard for their own personal visions.
The cornerstone of this tradition is an approach to interpreting form based on the observation of nature.
The opportunity for today’s art students in Southern California to be exposed to this type of work is very rare.

I know Ruth Weisberg will be represented in the show. I really love her work. Hope the students are able to spend time with these talented artists.
