Free Triathlon Race Clinics and Vendor Fair for Race on the Base 2013

The following information was released by Los Alamitos Recreation and Community Services.

The Southland Credit Union Annual Los Alamitos Race on the Base is set to take place on Saturday, February 23, 2013 and all triathlon participants are invited to the FREE Triathlon Race Clinics. Register now and don’t miss valuable training tips and techniques from excellent guest trainers. Pre-registration for clinics is REQUIRED. Call (562) 430-1073 or email mricks@cityoflosalamitos.org to register. All clinics will be held at Oak Middle School, 10821 Oak Street, Los Alamitos. Don’t forget to also check out the vendor fair at each clinic featuring great products and services! Clinic presentations will be from 9am to 11am, to be followed by activity/training from 11am to noon. Topics included are:

  • January 12: (Bring your running gear and swimsuit) Run and swim technique, mental prep, fitness run, plus actual long course swim to follow at JFTB pool.
  • January 26: (Bring your bike) Bike techniques, stretching and injury prevention, nutrition, and bike check.
  • February 9: (Bring your transition gear and bike) Transition basics and set-up, race day, event logistics, and transition simulation.

Race on the Base events include a Reverse Triathlon, Jr. Reverse Triathlon, 10K Run, 5K Run/Walk, 1K Kids Run, 10k Handcycle, 10K Inline Skating, and 10k Wheelchair Race. The race is held on the runways at the Joint Forces Training Base in Los Alamitos and features a 2-day vendor expo, helicopters, planes and military vehicles with music throughout the course. All participants and volunteers receive a distinctive long-sleeved tech race shirt, finisher dog tag medals, plus free breakfast or lunch for all racers.
