The following information was released by the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts.
Broadway’s most popular songs and shows come to life in the one-of-a-kind theatrical showcase Broadway on Ice at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts (CCPA) on Friday, Dec. 27, 8:00 PM and Saturday, Dec. 28, 2:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
Ranging from $65-$40, tickets for this festive family-friendly production are available at the CCPA Ticket Office, at www.cerritoscenter.com, or by calling (562) 467-8818. The $65 seats for the 2:00 PM performance are sold out.
The CCPA stage is transformed into an intimate ice arena for the unforgettable Broadway on Ice holiday extravaganza. Led by two-time Olympian Ekaterina “Katia” Gordeeva, a cast of champion skaters performs to the music of classic Broadway productions, such as A Chorus Line, Cabaret, Chicago, West Side Story, Gypsy, and Rent. Gordeeva skated into the global spotlight with her former partner and late husband, Sergei Grinkov, winning the Olympic Gold in the 1988 and 1994 pairs competition.
They defined pairs skating, lifting the sport to new heights, artistically and athletically, and quickly made a name for themselves as the most recognizable pairs team from the former Soviet Union. They were crowned world champions four times. As a solo performer, Gordeeva spent 12 years on the Stars on Ice tour and continues to perform in figure-skating exhibitions throughout the world.
The evening also features singer Davis Gaines, who has sung for five U.S. presidents. Gaines performed the title role in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera, which earned him the Bay Area Critics’ Award for “Best Actor.” He has also appeared in Whistle Down the Wind; Hello, Dolly!; Camelot; and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. Gaines’ film work includes Chicago Hope, Veronica’s Closet, and Murder, She Wrote.
Willy Bietak’s Broadway on Ice began its national tour in November 2004 and has since been performed for more than 100,000 people.
