As the featured photo and larger photo below show, a 25-to 30-foot section of the east breakwater protecting Anaheim Bay was partially washed away by yesterday’s extreme wave action, and the navigation aid at the end of that breakwater was destroyed.
Although this has not impacted operations at Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach, small boat captains should be especially cautious when entering or exiting the harbor until further notice.
Update: A Naval Weapons Station spokesman reports that the Army Corps of Engineers (not the SeaBees!) is responsible for repairing the breakwater. The navigational aid will be replaced by the Corps or the Coast Guard.
