Long Beach restaurants are gearing up for Dine Out Long Beach, Restaurant Week 2.0 taking place February 28-March 5, 2016. Nearly 30 restaurants have signed up and more are expected to participate before the January 31 deadline.
“We’re very excited to be part of Dine Out Long Beach,” said Ali Kobessi, owner of Open Sesame in Belmont Shore. “Restaurant Week 2.0 is a great opportunity for us to showcase our lunch and dinner offerings to new and returning guests. The organizers have done a tremendous job in promoting the event, and we felt the registration fee, which includes all the advertising, marketing and public relations, was very affordable.”
Restaurants throughout the city will offer 2-option menus for lunch starting at $10 and 3-option menus for dinner starting at $20. Some restaurants will also offer a shared menu where two guests can split an appetizer and dessert, but enjoy their own entrée. As for settings and cuisines, California’s sixth largest city has an abundance of offerings.
“Long Beach’s dining scene has really exploded in recent years,” said Elizabeth Borsting, founder of Dine Out Long Beach and a local public relations consultant for several restaurants concepts and hotels. “There are so many wonderful gastropubs, sidewalk cafes, waterfront bistros and chef-driven restaurants serving everything from Greek food and Latin American fare to Lebanese specialties and American comfort food.”
Borsting, who founded the city’s first restaurant week, added that Dine Out Long Beach doesn’t require any tickets or passes. Guests simply can peruse the special, prix-fixe menus at dineoutlongbeach.com and decide where they’d like to dine by selecting a neighborhood, price point or cuisine. Restaurants will also have their regular menus available.

Restaurants can register for Dine Out Long Beach, Restaurant Week 2.0 through January 31. Registration is $350 for single restaurants and $300 per location for restaurant groups that have multiple units or concepts. In return, restaurants are supported through a strategic advertising, marketing and public relations campaign. The event is scheduled at an optimum time as well when there are not a lot of events to compete with such as Grand Prix and Long Beach State Athletics Jewels of the Night – both taking place in April.
