On Sunday, March 19, 2017, at approximately 5:40 am, Seal Beach Police Officers responded to assist with the pursuit of a hit and run suspect. The suspect vehicle had been identified as possibly being involved in a hit and run fatality that occurred in unincorporated Anaheim.
The Anaheim Police Department and the California Highway Patrol pursued the suspect vehicle across Orange County and into the City of Seal Beach. The suspect crashed near the intersection of Seal Beach Blvd. and Westminster Blvd. A responding Seal Beach Officer discharged his firearm at the suspect as a result of the suspect’s actions. There were no injuries to the Officer or the suspect, and the suspect was taken into custody.
The criminal investigation of the hit and run is being handled by the California Highway Patrol. The Seal Beach Police Department is conducting an investigation into the officer involved shooting.
