An Orange County resident expresses outrage at the recall State Senator Josh Newman effort mounted by Republicans. She calls it a hoax.
Dear OC Breeze Editor,
I am so furious about the outright hoax being perpetrated by Republican interests seeking to spend our tax money on a ridiculous recall of CA State District 29 Senator Josh Newman – that has NOTHING TO DO WITH HIS VOTE ON THE GAS TAX!
When will media wise up to the politics and do the appropriate diligence to report political trickery for what it is?
Republicans in the state senate are trying to break the existing Democratic supermajority by attempting to force Newman out. The senate passed the gas tax bill, not Newman alone! I just got the phone number for the state coordinator paying petitioners to gather voter names in Orange County. I am furious over this, and over my tax dollars going to fund political trickery.
Please do the research and publish warnings to those who are otherwise falling into the false recall trap!

Filing fees and costs for signature collections are paid by supporters of the recall effort, not the State of California. If enough signatures are collected to trigger a special election, candidates in the election will bear their own campaign costs.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the cost for special elections is borne by the counties in which the elections are held. In the case of Senate District 29, which straddles the county line, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Orange Counties would split the cost.
