Rossmoor-Los Alamitos Republican Women Federated, which serves northwest Orange County and greater Long Beach, invites the community to its USO canteen on Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Cypress Courtyard Marriott. Speakers include USO representative Bob Kurkjian, student Laura Rivas who attended a Ronald Reagan Ranch weekend activity, and special guest Rita Ladewig. Mike Chamberlin will offer a musical tribute to songs of WW II USO canteens.
The 95-year-young Ladewig, who was a USO hostess during World War II, will share her experiences with the club. “The USO has always made our wonderful service men and women feel welcomed, which is so important as most serve far from home,” said co-Vice President of Programs Mari Barke. “Miss Rita is sure to have many interesting stories to tell from her years as a USO hostess during World War Two.”
The meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. with a red, white and blue buffet breakfast and is just $20 for members and first-time guests. To make your reservation contact Chris Barnes at [email protected] or 562-865-3258.
