From his Dove Award-winning Gospel albums to his genre-defining Southern Rock anthems, Grand Ole Opry inductee Charlie Daniels is known for his characteristically Southern Rock, Country, and Bluegrass sounds. He has carved out a multi-Platinum career dotted with hits, awards, and collaborations with music icons such as Bob Dylan, Ringo Starr, and The Marshall Tucker Band.
The native North Carolinian formed THE CHARLIE DANIELS BAND in the 1970s, which etched a permanent niche for itself with the Top 10 hit Uneasy Rider.
Since then, the band has garnered more awards and fans with the Platinum album Fire on the Mountain, featuring the hit single Long Haired Country Boy. The Country Music Hall of Famer’s Million Mile Reflections album spotlighted the signature song The Devil Went Down to Georgia, which won a Grammy for “Best Country Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group” and the Country Music Association award for “Single of the Year.” The Platinum album Full Moon showcased the hits In America and The Legend of Wooley Swamp. His 1989 album Simple Man attained Platinum certification. The band’s other hits include The South’s Gonna Do It Again and In America.
Daniels received the Academy of Country Music Awards’ Pioneer Award in 1998, with U.S. Presidents Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford paying tribute to the country singer at the ceremony.
