The Mexican-American Bar Association (MABA) PAC announced its endorsement for Sam Jammal, a civil rights attorney, in California’s 39th Congressional District. MABA PAC represents attorneys, civic and business leaders from diverse ethnic backgrounds. Their mission is to create a pipeline for young, diverse leaders to become more involved in civic affairs and to help elect public officials who will ensure the American dream is available to people from all backgrounds.
“As a first generation law-graduate and the son of immigrant parents, it is an honor to earn the support of MABA PAC,” Jammal said. “I will work for all communities in the 39th District and fight to ensure that we have a government that takes on the challenges facing all the communities in this district.”
“I look forward to working together with the association to pass good laws that address the challenges faced by families across the 39th Congressional District. To do that we need to make Congress work again.” said Jammal.
Jammal recently released a plan to Reform Washington and get Congress back to work. To read the plan on Sam’s website, click here.
Jammal is a former Obama Administration, Chief of Staff in Congress and clean energy entrepreneur. He grew up in the 39th district to working class, immigrant parents from South America and the Middle East. Jammal is the only candidate in the field for the 39th district with experience in the federal government and in the innovation economy. If elected, Jammal would be the first Member of Congress of Latino and Arab American descent. Jammal’s first ad of the campaign highlights his unique background.
Jammal has been endorsed by civil rights icon Dolores Huerta; several former Obama Administration officials; Democracy for America; Climate Hawks Vote; the International Longshoremen and Warehouse Union Local 13, Local 63 and Local 94; and the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Council 36.
The 39th district is now a “Lean Democrat” seat following Ed Royce’s retirement announcement. California’s 39th congressional district has been a focus for Democrats to win back the House of Representatives – with Royce being active on the Democrats retirement watch list since September of 2017. Hillary Clinton won the district by 8.6%.
