For the ninth consecutive year, Senator Janet Nguyen is pleased to invite the public to attend the Central-West County Health Expo. The free event will take place on Saturday, October 27th from 8am to 1pm at Concorde College in Garden Grove and will feature free medical, dental and vision services. Services will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, residents are encouraged to arrive early.
“More than a place to receive on-site immediate care, the 9th Annual Central County Health Expo prides itself in connecting residents with a permanent medical home where they can tend to their health care needs on an ongoing basis,” said Senator Janet Nguyen. “I am proud to be part of a team of dedicated individuals and organizations, who give of themselves to ensure that the health care needs of others are met in a compassionate and professional setting.”
The 9th Annual Central-West County Health Expo is part of a collaborative effort made possible thanks to a partnership with the Central County Foundation, Lestonnac Free Clinic, VSP Mobile Operations, Illumination Foundation, Concorde Career College, Coastline Community College, Western University College of Optometry, St. Jude Neighborhood Health Centers and the California Department of Health Care Services. With their support, the Expo will feature free dental services (fillings, extractions and cleanings), medical services (physician examinations, prescriptions, lab work, glucose, vitals, DermaScans and cardiovascular screenings) and vision services (eye exams, prescription eyeglasses and non-prescription reading glasses).
Flu Shots will also be available at the Expo for adults and children ages 3 and up. To facilitate the administration of the vaccine, residents are advised to wear short-sleeve shirts. As a note of caution, flu shots will not be administered if residents are sick on the day of the vaccination, are allergic to eggs, have had a reaction to a flu shot in the past or have a history of Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS). Vaccines suitable for pregnant women will not be available.
“Last year’s flu season was extremely severe, resulting in an increased number of flu-related deaths and hundreds of thousands of hospitalizations nationwide,” said Senator Janet Nguyen. “As the impact of the flu seasons becomes more intense, we need to protect ourselves by getting timely flu shots. I want to encourage all residents to take advantage of this opportunity to get their flu shots at no cost.”
