The Apartment Association of Orange County has issued a statement in response to the voters’ rejection of Proposition 10. Along with the California Rental Housing Association (CalRHA) and other affiliates across the state, they have strongly opposed Proposition 10 and educated voters on how it will only further escalate our housing crisis. The Apartment Association of Orange County, in conjunction with CalRHA, continues to advocate for effective solutions and is looking forward to working with all interested stakeholders this year to solve our housing crisis.
Apartment Association of Orange County stated the following:
“Orange County voters have spoken tonight rejecting the ill-conceived rent control Prop 10 initiative. We, in Orange County, know too well of the urgent need to solve our housing crisis and the Apartment Association of Orange County stands ready to work with all interests for a solution that will make a difference.”
California Rental Housing Association PAC Chair Sid Lakireddy stated the following:
“Tonight demonstrates that voters want a real solution to our affordable housing crisis by soundly rejecting Proposition 10’s ill-conceived rent control initiative. This is not the end of the conversation but just the beginning. Our Association, representing thousands of small and local apartment owners, are ready to work together with the new Governor, Legislature, tenants’ rights organizations and community advocates to solve our affordable housing crisis. We are committed to working towards a thoughtful and effective solution.”
