The County of Orange Health Care Agency, Environmental Health, has closed the bay water area in the City of Newport Beach from Bayside Drive Beach to 450 feet upbay of Bayside Drive Beach due to a sewage spill. The sewage spill of approximately 10 gallons was caused by a vessel pumpout line break at the bulkhead of a private dock in Newport Beach.
The affected bay water area will remain closed to ocean water-contact sports until the results of follow-up water quality monitoring meet acceptable standards.
