After some amount of drama during the November election, two of the small cities in northwest Orange County re-organized this evening.
Los Alamitos bid farewell to Mayor Troy Edgar. Accolades poured in from many, including newly-elected Assemblyman Tyler Diep (R-AD72). Tim Whitacker presented recognition on behalf of Orange County Supervior Michelle Steele, who is out of the country. Brigadier General Lathrop, current command of Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base, presented a plaque from Major General David Baldwin, Adjutant General of the California National Guard.
The new Council was sworn in by City Clerk Windemere Quintanar and joined Councilman Richard Murphy on the dais to vote on a new mayor and mayor pro tem. Warren Kusumoto was chosen mayor without opposition. Richard Murphy was elected mayor pro tem.
In Cypress, three incumbents were re-elected and sworn in. Stacey Berry was elected mayor with no opposition. Rob Johnson was elected mayor pro tem.
