Coast Community College District has entered into an English Language Learning partnership with Huntington Beach Union High School District.
The partnership enables Orange Coast College to offer English Language Learning classes and other support services at various high school sites, including the Huntington Beach Adult Education School. The program is directed to students for whom English is a second language. The partnership was approved by the Coast Community College District Board of Trustees at their meeting December 12, 2018.
“English language development is an important part of our community college mission,” said John Weispfenning, chancellor of the Coast Community College District. “By partnering with high schools, we can help more students enter college and career pathways with the language skills they need to achieve their academic goals.”
The Coast Community College District and its three colleges, Orange Coast College, Golden West College, and Coastline College, are committed to expanding local partnerships that help prepare students for college-level coursework. The new English Language Learning agreement is just one of several partnerships the District maintains with local high schools aimed at preparing students for college and career success.
