At its December 18 meeting, the La Palma City Council recognized Officer Hongsing Phou as 2018 Employee of the Year and Water/Maintenance Supervisor Jake Chavira as 2018 Supervisor/Professional Employee of the Year.
Police Chief Terry Kim said, “We are so proud of Officer Phou’s being selected as La Palma’s Employee of the Year.” “Officer Phou is an exemplary officer who truly cares about the La Palma community. He has done an amazing job as the Police Department’s School Resource Officer, and his dedication and passion for being an outstanding role model and a mentor for the youth in La Palma schools is evident in his work every day,” Kim added.
“In his short tenue with the City, Jake Chavira has proven himself as a dedicated and professional employee,” Community Services Director Mike Belknap said. “He regularly goes out of his way to help others, residents, and employees alike, and always with a smile on his face. The fact that Jake received this prestigious award from his peers so soon in his career speaks volumes about who Jake is and what he represents. It’s a pleasure working with him and the City is lucky to count him among its employees.” Belknap added.
