UniHealth Foundation donates $350,000 to support Orange County United Way’s pandemic relief efforts

UniHealth Foundation has committed $350,000 to support Orange County United Way’s Pandemic Relief efforts, which support low-income individuals and families at imminent risk of homelessness, the current Orange County population experiencing homelessness, low-income students, and partner non-profits in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We’re grateful for UniHealth Foundation’s generous donation to support our Pandemic Relief efforts. This is a critical time for many Orange County individuals and families“, said Susan B. Parks, president and CEO of Orange County United Way. “From assisting families with emergency funds for rent and utilities to keep them in their homes, to responding to other community infrastructure needs, donations of all sizes allow us to support those most vulnerable during the pandemic.”

For over 20 years, UniHealth Foundation has been deeply committed to supporting nonprofit, community-based hospitals and health organizations in Southern California to facilitate activities that significantly improve the health and well-being of individuals and communities.

“UniHealth is grateful for the efforts underway by Orange County United Way to help those most vulnerable during this pandemic, and specifically, those who are homeless and housing insecure,” said Jennifer Vanore, Ph.D., president and COO, UniHealth Foundation. “They have quickly addressed the emerging needs of the community and we’re proud to be able to support them in this important work.”

Through the Pandemic Relief Fund, Orange County United Way has supported 4,500 households on the verge of homelessness with a $500 emergency debit card to help with rent, utilities, food, or other basic needs during the COVID-19 pandemic through its Homelessness Prevention Program. The fund has also supported the local food banks with truckloads of food, provided 2,000 meals and 30,000 face masks to frontline workers, 100 cases of hand sanitizer to emergency shelters, donated 7,000 books for school children, and provided other critical community infrastructure support throughout Orange County.
