St. Catherine’s Academy (SCA) an all-boys’ Catholic school with a military tradition located in Anaheim, CA was recently named “Best Military Tradition School” by Parenting OC Magazine. Chosen and voted by Parenting OC’s readers and staff, St. Catherine’s Academy was recognized for its longstanding rich military tradition.

St. Catherine’s Academy was founded in 1889 by the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose. For over 133 years, the academy has been educating boys for lifelong success by providing a strong Catholic faith rooted from the Dominican Charism, a robust academic program, and an extraordinary military tradition program. Furthermore, St. Catherine’s Academy provides 5-day and 7-day boarding opportunities which teach independence, structure, and responsibility.

“I am so proud of our military program and our military directors for their fine work and commitment in building leaders of faith and for providing our students with structure and discipline,” said Sister Johnellen Turner, Principal and Administrator. “I truly feel that spirituality and military are the perfect blend to help boys find their moral compass.”

St. Catherine’s military tradition promotes a variety of life skills, such as planning, following directions, working as a team, setting goals, and overcoming obstacles. Through this unique platform, students become responsible, self-confident young men. They learn to be leaders of honor and integrity through hands-on experience in a peer leadership environment.
