Rossmoor-Los Alamitos Republican Women Federated is seeking local students to apply for two scholarships that will be awarded at the club’s Mad Hatter’s Tea Party scholarship luncheon on Saturday, April 6, 2019. Interested students would complete an application and essay. For the essay, applicants would select one of the amendments to our Constitution and write why that amendment is important. The deadline to submit the application is March 1, 2019.
- $1,000 – awarded by club members
- $1,000 – Dorothy Sharp Memorial Scholarship
The non-partisan scholarships are open to seniors (both gals and guys) at the following high schools:
- Oxford Academy, Cypress
- Cypress High School
- Kennedy High School, La Palma
- Los Alamitos High School
- Pacifica High School, Garden Grove
Applications can be obtained through each school’s counseling department or their school’s scholarship website.
How recipients are selected and recognized
The club’s scholarship committee reviews the applications and essays, making their determination without knowing the student’s identity.
“In this way, we are focusing solely on the student’s essay along with his or her other scholastic and extra-curricular activities,” said Scholarship Chairwoman Nancy Hathcock.
