Veterans Legal Institute receives $10,000 grant from Judicate West Foundation

Veterans Legal Institute (VLI) is proud to announce the continuing support of the Judicate West Foundation (JWF) with another $10,000 investment to fund a critical staff attorney, Ms. Allison Higley. Ms. Higley is currently completing her third and final year, as an Equal Justice Works AmeriCorps Legal Fellow. Because JWF’s generous support, Ms. Higley has exceeded her goals every year in providing free legal services to veterans of every era through the Santa Ana office and six strategic outreach clinics. As a result, our local homeless and low-income veterans have stabilized and empowered their civilian lives with greater resources for safe homes, choice in higher education, new careers, and vital healthcare for themselves and their loved ones.

“VLI does outstanding work helping our veteran community with their legal needs,” said Rosemarie Chiusano Drohan, Board Member and Executive Director of the Judicate West Foundation. “We couldn’t be more pleased to continue to support VLI in its important mission – ensuring that our veterans and their families have access to justice – a cause that is near and dear to the hearts of both the Foundation and our extended Judicate West family.”

“VLI truly appreciates the Judicate West Foundation’s ongoing investment in the well-being of our local veterans and military families,” said Antoinette Balta, President and Co-Founder. “VLI is committed to meeting the unique legal needs of our veteran community with dedicated attorneys who are experts at the intersection of military and civilian cultures. The Judicate West Foundation’s continuing trust and partnership will help ensure that no eligible veteran is turned away in their time of need.”
