The Ocean View School District proudly announces today that the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) Region 17 has awarded two District leaders in its annual awards program. Mr. Felix Avila, Assistant Superintendent, is the 2019 Administrator of the Year for Personnel/Human Resources, and Mesa View Middle School Principal Randy Lempert is the 2019 Administrator of the Year for Middle Grades Principal. According to ACSA, these recipients demonstrate exceptional leadership, collaboration, and a commitment to quality education programs and student achievement.
“Both of these individuals have made a tremendous impact on learning in the Ocean View School District,” said Dr. Carol Hansen, Superintendent. “Their leadership in building strong, healthy relationships among their peers and with students is a powerful way to support success in Ocean View.”
ACSA Region 17 will recognize all award recipients at the Orange County Administrators of the Year and Friends of Education Celebration of Excellence on May 13 at the Irvine Marriott. Ocean View’s award winners are now in consideration for recognition by ACSA’s State Awards Committee.
ACSA honored Mr. Avila as its statewide 2018 Negotiator of the Year last January. As part of ACSA’s Negotiators’ Symposium and awards luncheon, he was also a presenter in collaboration with Bryan Leipper, District Teacher and Bargaining Chair for the Ocean View Teachers’ Association.
Mr. Lempert currently serves as the Ocean View School Administrators ACSA Charter President, sharing professional development and other ACSA opportunities to Ocean View administrators. Mr. Lempert is in his fifth year as Principal at Mesa View, which is home to OVSD’s Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) magnet program for grades 6-8.
