Assemblymember Tyler Diep selected Dr. Phuong-Trang Cao, PharmD, a resident of Garden Grove, as his inaugural Woman of the Year for the 72nd Assembly District. Dr. Cao was honored on the Assembly Floor in Sacramento on Monday, March 4, 2019.

“Dr. Cao is the embodiment of the American dream,” said Assemblymember Diep. “She immigrated to the United States when her parents were granted political asylum and earned her degree in pharmacy. She now is a community volunteer, philanthropist, and dedicated mother who gives back with a warm heart.”

“I am honored to be chosen as Assemblymember Tyler Diep’s inaugural Woman of the Year,” said Dr. Cao. “It is truly humbling to be recognized by the State Legislature and most rewarding when serving the community I love.”

Dr. Phuong-Trang Cao and her family arrived to the United States from Vietnam in 1986. She graduated from the University of California, Irvine and received her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Southern California. Dr. Cao and her husband, Dr. Duc Do, MD, have been giving back to the community supporting and sponsoring numerous nonprofit organizations for many years. The main organization Dr. Cao has been most active with in recent years is the Vietnamese Physician Association of Southern California and organizing the Annual Free Health Fair. The fair served over 1,000 Orange County residents in need of basic health services.
