The LAHS String Orchestra was one of 15 high schools participating in the Philharmonic Society of Orange County’s 6th annual High School Orchestra Festival. This is the third year that the orchestra has been selected to participate, after a selective application and auditioning process.

The LAHS String Orchestra’s accomplishments include earning a gold award at the 2018 Los Angeles International Music Festival at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, as well as receiving unanimous superior ratings at Southern California Band and Orchestra Association festivals.

This past fall, both the String and Chamber Orchestras were invited to perform in the Disneyland Resorts Community Arts Showcase. The orchestral musicians also collaborate with the LAHS Choir and LAHS Jazz program at special events and concerts, as well as spread the joy of music in the community by playing at local nursing homes .

This winter, the orchestra students had the opportunity to work with the music departments of both Long Beach City College and Long Beach State. Students in the LAHS Orchestra Program have also been selected for the SCSBOA “All Southern” Honors Symphony Orchestra, consisting of some of the best high school musicians in Southern California.
