Neomi J. Rao confirmed to replace Brett Kavanaugh on D.C. Circuit Court

The attention of news readers has bounced among Democratic presidential contenders (Beto O’Rourke just announced), Boeing airplanes falling out of the sky, and mobster hits, the U.S. Senate has been chugging along confirming judges.

Yesterday, Neomi J. Rao was confirmed by a vote of 53 to 46 to the seat on the District of Columbia Circuit vacated by Brett Kavanaugh after his confirmation to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Both California Senators Feinstein and Harris voted Nay.

During confirmation hearings for Judge Rao, Senator Harris accused her of blaming the victim of sexual assault — rather than commending her for supporting efforts at teaching women how to avoid assault and protect themselves.

Also recently confirmed: Paul Matey of New Jersey to the Third Circuit; Eric Murphy and Chad Readler, both of Ohio, to the Sixth Circuit; and Eric Miller of Washington State to the Ninth Circuit.
