The City’s C.E.R.T. (Community Emergency Response Team) begins a new, 20-hour, Friday through Sunday CERT Academy on April 12, 13, and 14. Classes take place Friday, 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday, 8:00 a.m.
to 5:00 p.m., at North Net Fire Training Center, 2400 E. Orangewood Avenue, Anaheim 92806.
C.E.R.T. is a volunteer organization with the Garden Grove Fire Department that provides free community training on how to prepare for, respond to, and recover from a disaster, as well as lend emergency support to first responders.
C.E.R.T. training topics include disaster preparedness, medical operations, I.C.S. (Incident Command System), fire safety, light search and rescue, terrorism, and disaster psychology. C.E.R.T. participants must be at least 18 years old and live and/or work in Garden Grove.
Prior to the C.E.R.T. training, the City will offer a CPR/AED/First Aid certification class on Saturday, April 6, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at North Net Fire Training Center. Led by EMS Safety Services, Inc., the cost for the class is $30. CPR students who attend and complete the CERT Academy (not required) will be refunded the $30 cost of the CPR class. Reservations for the CPR class must be made in advance by emailing email@example.com. Seats are limited.
