Eat a sub and help Cancer for College

Cancer for College is joining forces with 188 Jersey Mike’s Subs restaurants in Los Angeles, Orange County, Inland Empire, Fresno and Santa Barbara areas for the 9th Annual March “Month of Giving” campaign. During the month of March, customers can make a donation at participating Jersey Mike’s restaurants to:

  • Cancer for College (188 L.A./Orange County/Fresno/Santa Barbara/Inland Empire locations)
  • City of Hope (three locations in Hollywood, Northridge and Sherman Oaks)

The campaign will culminate in Jersey Mike’s “Day of Giving” on Wednesday, March 27, when local Jersey Mike’s restaurants will give 100 percent of the day’s sales – not just profit – to Cancer for College and City of Hope.

On Day of Giving, local Jersey Mike’s owners and operators throughout the country will donate their resources and every single dollar that comes in to more than 180 different charities including hospitals, youth organizations, food banks and more.

The Jersey Mike’s restaurants in Los Angeles, Orange County, Inland Empire, Fresno and Santa Barbara are aiming to collectively raise $1 million through the month-long campaign (last year’s effort raised $842,000). If this goal is achieved, the funds will make a measurable impact on the lives of families fighting cancer.

Cancer not only damages a family physically and emotionally, it can devastate them financially as well. Families with children battling cancer often exhaust their entire savings to fight the disease, leaving little if not nothing left to cover the costs of college. A beneficiary of this year’s Month of Giving, Cancer for College provides hope and inspiration by providing need-based scholarships and educational experiences to high-achieving cancer survivors. Since 1993, Cancer for College has awarded more than $3 million in scholarships to approximately 1,400 students.

“Last year’s nationwide Month of Giving initiative raised more than $6 million for charities making a big difference in their local communities, and this year, we hope to raise even more,” said Peter Cancro, Jersey Mike’s founder and CEO, who started the company when he was only 17 years-old. “From the early days, it’s just what we’ve always done — give to give, as they say. This March, I invite you to visit Jersey Mike’s to help support an important cause in your neighborhood.”
