From heartwarming to heartbreaking, “home” means something different to everyone.
We invite artists to submit original work that represents what “home” means to them, for display during our Awareness Through Art event to be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019. This event will showcase how we integrate the arts into our Residential Shelter Care Program and provide residents with creative outlets to express themselves.
Casa Youth Shelter is a community in which all adolescents in crisis have a safe place to stay in an environment that promotes healthy family relationships. We provide temporary shelter for runaway, homeless, and at-risk youth, enabling them to come through their crises with increased personal strength and a sense of renewal while in a supportive environment, with family reunification as a primary goal.
This juried exhibition is open to all artists residing in Southern California. The following media are eligible: painting, photography, printmaking, drawing, mixed media, sculpture, craft, performance, digital art, music, and poetry. Two- and three-dimensional art must be display-ready (for example: mounted, matted, framed, etc.). Artists may submit more than one (1) piece of work. Submission does not guarantee entry into exhibition. Sale of art submitted is optional.
Submissions are being accepted in person until April 11, 2019 at 12:00pm, at Casa Youth Shelter, 10911 Reagan Street, Los Alamitos, CA 90720.
