Athena Fleming was awarded the title of Ms. Golden State America 2019 by the Ms. America® Pageant Inc. Fleming will now advance to the national pageant to compete for the title of Ms. America at the Queen Mary in Long Beach on Saturday, August 24, 2019.
“I’m excited to use my home court advantage to bring home the crown,” Fleming said. “But my year as Ms. Golden State is about more than winning for myself, it’s about bringing national awareness to my platform.”
Fleming is a spokeswoman for Operation Gratitude, who every year, sends 250,000+ individually-addressed care packages to active duty military, new recruits, veterans and first responders and to their children left behind. Each package contains food items, hygiene products, entertainment, handmade items, and handwritten letters of support.
She is no stranger to the spotlight. In 2017 she won the title of Ms. Woman California, earning a spot at the Ms. United States National Pageant where she placed in the prestigious top 10! Athena has also represented her community as a professional cheerleader for the National Hockey League and the Los Angeles Kings Ice Crew.
Fleming is a community relations professional and a military veteran. She is also a supporter of the Special Olympics and Best Buddies Organization where she serves as a community ambassador with her twin brother, Curtis, who has Down Syndrome. She enjoys watching Los Angeles Rams football, Korean Dramas, and TedTalks, and competing in agility races with her Shetland sheepdog, Cowboy.
About the Ms. America Pageant Organization:
The pageant is for women 26 years of age and up who are single, divorced, widowed or married and would like to make a difference by using their “crown for a purpose.” Judging is based on Evening Gown, Interview, On-Stage Question and Sportswear (tennis, golf, aerobic wear etc).
