Don Sedgwick, the leading Republican candidate by every measure in the race to represent California’s 45th District, outraised party rivals by more than $140,000 in the first quarter according to current finance reports. The large margin came despite the fact that his campaign launched fundraising efforts late in the quarter. The finance reports also revealed that 100% of the campaign’s donations came from individual donors, indicating broad-based support for the frontrunner.
“We’ve barely started, and Orange County’s positive response to our common-sense message has been absolutely energizing,” said Sedgwick. “With our growing base of support, we are on track to prevail and bring back our district’s conservative priorities to a Washington badly in need of change,” he added.
In addition to the outpouring of support from individual donors, Sedgwick’s campaign has been buoyed by a growing list of endorsements from current and former federal, state and local officials. Sedgwick has 23 years of service as an elected official in district, more than any other Republican candidate in the race.
Chief Strategist for the Sedgwick for Congress campaign, John Thomas, said, “Don Sedgwick is the clear frontrunner for the party. We now set our sights on repealing and replacing liberal Katie Porter, who’s shown more allegiance to radical socialists than to her Orange County constituents.”
