Scott Rhinehart community leader, local businessman, and candidate for California’s 73rd State Assembly District, was endorsed by Assemblymember Sharon Quirk-Silva (AD-65), dedicated public servant and former classroom teacher, and Andy Thorburn, former classroom teacher and candidate for California’s 39th congressional district. Assemblymember Quirk-Silva’s and Thorburn’s endorsements join a growing list of high-powered endorsements that include Congressman Mike Levin (CD-49), Senator Tom Umberg (CA SD34), and former State Senator Josh Newman, among others.
“I am proud to endorse Scott in his candidacy for California’s 73rd State Assembly District,” said Assemblymember Quirk-Silva. “Scott has a comprehensive understanding of the long-term needs and concerns of families in his district. We need him in Sacramento to activate and bring more resources to Orange County to address homelessness, economic inequality, and environmental injustice.”
“For too long, California’s 73rd State Assembly District has had a representative who doesn’t reflect the values of the district,” said Thorburn. “As a father, grandfather and citizen activist, Scott’s personal commitment to ensuring environmental justice and quality public education for all of Orange County students is non-negotiable. We need knowledgeable, dedicated citizen activists like him in Sacramento. I am proud to endorse Scott Rhinehart in his candidacy for State Assembly District 73.”
Rhinehart responded to these endorsements: “I am humbled to receive Assemblymember Quirk-Silva’s endorsement and belief that I will provide substantive representation in the 73rd Assembly District. She has a proven track record of tenacity, effectiveness and fierce determination as she works on behalf of Orange County residents. I look forward to joining her in Sacramento.”
Responding to Thorburn’s endorsement, Rhinehart stated: “I’m proud to receive Andy’s endorsement and statement that I will provide substantive representation for Assembly District 73. In 2018, Andy ran a grassroots campaign that helped turn Orange County blue, and he has continuously stayed involved, improving our communities. I intend to maintain the momentum generated from Andy and his wife, Karen, to flip the 73rd to blue through a grassroots campaign that is reflective of the values of all families in the 73rd.”
Assemblymember Sharon Quirk-Silva’s and Thorburn’s endorsements add to a broad and growing coalition of early supporters of Rhinehart’s State Assembly campaign. Since announcing his candidacy on April 1st, Rhinehart has been endorsed by a number of elected officials, local activists, and organizations.
