On Saturday, May 18, 2019, Rossmoor-Los Alamitos Republican Women Federated welcomes Dr. Barbara Stone, emeritus professor of political science at California State University, Fullerton. A dynamic and engaging speaker, Dr. Stone will share her perspective on the state and national political landscape and its impact on our region. This is especially important following the 2018 midterm election when ballot harvesting (which is illegal in many states) resulted in Orange County turning blue. The Saturday morning breakfast meeting is held at the conveniently located Cypress Courtyard by Marriott (5865 Katella Avenue at Valley View). The program begins at 9:30 a.m. with a buffet breakfast – $25 for members and $28 for non- members.

Dr. Stone is an expert on politics at the local, regional, and national levels, and remains active in a number of elective, community and political activities throughout the state. She is the author of several publications regarding California politics. Informative and entertaining about Republican politics, she will have everyone laughing and enlightened at the same time.

Also on the agenda:

Precious Life Shelter – With Mother’s Day in May, the club is asking members and guests to bring items for Precious Life Shelter mothers and mothers-to-be. Founded in 1982 when Theresa and Don Sherrin took four expectant homeless women into their home, the non-profit shelter has helped hundreds of homeless pregnant women to become self-reliant members of the community.

Armed Services Day – Since May 18 is Armed Services Day, members and guests are invited to bring a photo of them or a loved that is serving/served in our armed forces.

The RLA club, which serves northwest Orange County cities and greater Long Beach, welcomes like-minded women and men who want to impact local, state and national politics. Reservations can be made at: [email protected]
